Width was one of the decisions that shaped The Wave from the beginning.

At 1.5 inches wide, The Wave has enough presence to showcase its crystal pattern and leatherwork beautifully while remaining a practical choice for everyday life. It’s a proportion that works particularly well for many medium and larger dogs and feels equally at home heading to training, travelling for a trial weekend or going out for the day.

That balance has become one of the things customers love most about it.

The wider leather profile also gives you something else: room to play.

There’s enough space for the flowing crystal pattern that gives The Wave its name without creating a collar that feels overly elaborate. Change the leather, crystal colours, padding and hardware, and the same design can take on an entirely different personality.

It’s one of the reasons we’ve made so many Waves over the years and still rarely see two that look alike.

It Starts With the Leather

Every Wave begins with the same thing: a piece of full-grain leather selected for its strength, character and ability to become even better with use.

Our classic Black and Brown Waves are handcrafted from English Bridle leather, a leather traditionally prized for applications where durability matters. The hides are carefully finished with oils and waxes that help create the rich feel and beautiful finish associated with bridle leather.

It’s substantial in the hand, develops character as it ages and, with proper care, is made for years of adventures.

Our pigmented fashion leathers bring a different character to The Wave, opening up a much wider world of colour while maintaining the craftsmanship behind the collar.

Whichever direction you take it, the leather is only the beginning.

The Details You Feel Every Time You Pick It Up

A finished Wave passes through our hands many times before it ever reaches yours.

The leather is cut, shaped and prepared by hand. Edges are carefully beveled and finished so they feel smooth rather than raw. A soft leather lining adds padding against the dog's neck, while each piece of hardware is selected to complement the weight and proportions of the collar.

Then come the crystals.

The Wave's signature pattern moves across the collar in a gentle rhythm rather than a perfectly straight row—the detail that eventually gave the design its name.

Caring for Your Wave

Good leather doesn't need complicated maintenance, but a little care goes a long way.

After muddy adventures, wipe away dirt and grit with a soft damp cloth. If the collar becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat. Periodic conditioning with a quality leather conditioner helps replenish the leather and keep it supple.

As with any leather product, giving your collar time to dry thoroughly after particularly wet adventures will help it stay looking its best.

Over time, the leather will soften and develop the subtle character that comes from being used and loved—which is exactly what good leather is supposed to do.

A Design That Became an FBD Classic

We couldn't have known when we created The Wave that it would become the collar it is today.

It has been made in quiet neutrals and unapologetically bright colours. We've seen Waves headed for competition weekends, birthday presents, new puppies and dogs whose FBD collections already require considerably more storage than anyone originally planned.

And somehow, the design keeps becoming something new.
