What’s the difference between a Custom collar and a Ready To Wear collar?

Custom collars are built to order. You pick the design, then choose your leather colour, crystal colour, hardware finish, and padding. We make it from scratch in our workshop. Production time is about 4 weeks.

Ready To Wear collars are already made and ready to ship. Same leather, same crystals, same craftsmanship. The only difference is we made the design choices for you. If you see one you love, it ships within days.

If you’re not sure which route is right for you, either one gets you a handcrafted collar built by our team in Ontario. Custom just gives you more creative control. Ready To Wear gets it to your dog faster.

How long does it take to get my collar?

Custom collars have a 4-week production time. That’s not a shipping estimate, that’s build time. Your collar doesn’t exist yet when you order it. We’re making it by hand, start to finish.

Ready To Wear collars are already built and ship within a few days of your order.

If you need a custom collar sooner, ask us about Skip The Line. It moves your order to the front of the queue and gets it out in about a week. It’s available during peak seasons and when our schedule allows.

How do I measure my dog for the right size?

Grab a soft measuring tape (or a piece of string and a ruler) and measure around the middle of your dog’s neck. Not up near the ears, not down by the shoulders. Right in the middle.

Don’t add extra length “just in case.” That’s the most common sizing mistake and it results in a collar that’s too loose.

Our collars have 7 holes spaced 1/2” apart, covering a 3” range. Pick the size where your dog’s measurement falls closest to the middle hole. That gives you room to adjust for seasonal weight changes in either direction.

If you’re between sizes or just want a second opinion, send us your dog’s measurement and breed. We do this every day and we’re happy to help.

What if I’m not sure which design or width to choose?

That’s what we’re here for. Send us an email or a DM on Instagram or Facebook. Tell us a bit about your dog (breed, neck size, coat colour, what they do) and we’ll point you in the right direction.

We’ve been doing this a long time. We can usually narrow it down to two or three options pretty quickly, and from there it’s just personal preference.

There’s no pressure and no sales pitch. We’d rather help you get the right collar the first time than have you second-guess it later.

Can I submit my own design for a custom collar?

Our custom collars are built from our existing designs. You choose the design you like, then make it yours by selecting the leather colour, crystal colour, hardware finish, and padding. There’s a lot of room to create something that feels like it was made just for your dog, because it was.

What we don’t do is take outside design submissions or create entirely new patterns from scratch. Every design in our collection was developed in-house and refined over time to make sure it looks right and holds up. That’s a process we keep pretty close to the chest.

If you’re looking at a design and wondering how different colour combinations would change the look, that’s where the fun is. Send us a message and we’ll help you put something together. You’d be surprised how different the same design can look in black leather with teal crystals versus tan leather with champagne crystals.

Can I change my custom order after I’ve placed it?

We can’t accept changes once a custom order has been placed. Your collar goes into our production queue and materials get allocated right away, so there’s not really a window to make adjustments after the fact.

If you’re unsure about anything (leather colour, crystal choice, sizing, any of it) reach out to us before you order. We’ll walk through it with you. That’s genuinely the best way to make sure you end up with exactly what you want.

Do you ship internationally?

We do. Every order ships free, worldwide.

Most of our customers are in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, but we ship anywhere. Delivery times vary by destination, but we use tracked shipping on every order so you’ll always know where your collar is.

Will I have to pay duties or customs fees?

If you’re in the US, no. Our collars qualify under the USMCA trade agreement, so there are no tariffs or duties on your order. What you see at checkout is what you pay.

If you’re outside the US and Canada, your country may collect duties or taxes on arrival. That part is out of our hands and varies by country. We can’t predict exactly what you’ll be charged, but we know customers in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand order from us regularly and it hasn’t been a dealbreaker.

Are the crystals durable? Will they fall out?

These collars are worn by dogs who train, compete, and live real lives. The crystals hold up.

Every crystal is hand-set by our team, and we use high-quality stones that are meant to take daily wear. We hear from customers all the time whose dogs have worn their collars for years and the crystals still catch the light the same way they did on day one.

That said, if something does come loose (it happens, dogs are dogs), we offer an in-house repair service. Send us a photo and we’ll sort it out. For small fixes like a missing crystal or a loose component, we can often just drop a replacement in the mail.

How do I care for my leather collar?

Leather is pretty low-maintenance. Wipe it down with a damp cloth when it gets dirty. If it needs conditioning, a light leather conditioner works well. Just avoid anything with heavy chemicals or solvents.

Keep it out of standing water when you can. Leather can handle getting wet (dogs don’t exactly check the forecast) but it shouldn’t be soaking for extended periods. If it does get soaked, let it air dry naturally. Don’t use heat.

A well-cared-for leather collar lasts years. We hear from customers who are still wearing their original collars five years later and they still look great.

Are these collars comfortable for everyday wear?

All of our collars are padded and designed to be worn comfortably. We put a lot of thought into how the collar sits on the dog, not just how it looks in photos.

One thing to know: these are fashion and accessory collars. They’re built to look beautiful and hold up to daily life, but they’re not designed to be used as a restraint or training tool. Use them for looking incredible at trials, events, outings, or just around the house. Walk your dog on a separate lead setup.

What’s your return or exchange policy?

Custom collars are made to your exact specifications, so we don’t accept returns or exchanges based on design choices (leather colour, crystals, hardware, etc.). That’s why we always encourage reaching out before you order if you’re not 100% sure.

Ready To Wear collars can be returned for store credit within 14 days of delivery, as long as the collar is unused and in brand-new condition. A small restocking fee applies, and store credit is issued in Canadian dollars.

Size exchanges are available on both Custom and Ready To Wear collars within 14 days, for the same design in a different size. The collar needs to be unworn and in original condition. Customer covers return shipping.

We don’t offer refunds, but we’ll always work with you to make it right.

What if my collar doesn’t fit?

If the size isn’t right, we can exchange it for the same collar in a different size. You have 14 days from delivery to request a size exchange, and the collar needs to be unused and in its original condition.

You’ll cover the shipping both ways for the exchange, but we won’t charge you for the new collar. We just need the original one back first.

Where are your collars made?

Everything is made by hand in our workshop in Ontario, Canada. We have a small team of leather artisans who build every collar from start to finish, from cutting the leather to setting every crystal.

We’ve been in the dog world for over 30 years. This started as collars made for friends and clients, turned into a proper business, and now we’re shipping worldwide from a 1,000 sq ft workshop. The scale has changed. The way we make them hasn’t.
