I'm Danielle, founder of FBD. I've spent over 30 years training and competing in the dog sport world. When I couldn't find a collar that met my standards, I started making my own.
I'm a lifelong dog sport competitor (and equestrian) who happens to make dog collars. This community is my world, and it shows in every collar we make.

Are Leather Collars Comfortable for Dogs?
Yes! A well-made custom leather dog collar can be very comfortable for everyday wear. FBD collars feature a soft, padded inner leather lining that cushions the collar against your dog’s neck and helps prevent rubbing. The English Bridle leather our collars are crafted from becomes more supple with use, creating a collar that feels even better over time. Choosing the correct size and width ensures a secure, comfortable fit for your dog.
Are the crystals durable? Will they fall out?
These collars are worn by dogs who train, compete, and live real lives. The crystals hold up.
Every crystal is hand-set by our team, and we use high-quality stones that are meant to take daily wear. We hear from customers all the time whose dogs have worn their collars for years and the crystals still catch the light the same way they did on day one.
How do I measure my dog for the right size?
Grab a soft measuring tape (or a piece of string and a ruler) and measure around the middle of your dog’s neck. Not up near the ears, not down by the shoulders. Right in the middle.
Don’t add extra length “just in case.” That’s the most common sizing mistake and it results in a collar that’s too loose.
Our collars have 7 holes spaced 1/2” apart, covering a 3” range. Pick the size where your dog’s measurement falls closest to the middle hole. That gives you room to adjust for seasonal weight changes in either direction.
If you’re between sizes or just want a second opinion, send us your dog’s measurement and breed. We do this every day and we’re happy to help.

That’s what we’re here for. Contact us here, send us an email, or DM us on Instagram or Facebook. Tell us a bit about your dog (breed, neck size, coat colour, what they do) and we’ll point you in the right direction.
We’ve been doing this a long time. We can usually narrow it down to two or three options pretty quickly, and from there it’s just personal preference.
There’s no pressure and no sales pitch. We’d rather help you get the right collar the first time than have you second-guess it later.
