January came in hot—or rather, brutally cold—but the workshop stayed warm with new releases, sold-out collars, and a whole lot of leather work.

When Winter Actually Winters

Let's talk about that polar vortex. Ottawa hit -39°C with windchill last week, which is the kind of cold that makes you question your life choices every time you step outside. The dogs? Mostly unbothered. They still wanted their walks (didn’t happen), still acted like snow was invented specifically for their entertainment. Meanwhile, we're layering up like we're heading to the Arctic (because we were).

Inside the workshop, though? Business as usual. The leather doesn't care about the weather, and neither do we when there's work to be done.

Bringing Back the 1.75" Width

We kicked off the year by reintroducing our 1.75" collar width. If you've been around for a while, you might remember this width from the early days—it sits right between our standard 1.5" and 2" options, giving that little bit of extra presence without going full statement piece.

It's the Goldilocks width. Not too wide, not too narrow. Just right for dogs who need something between the two.

We launched it with two custom designs: Moth and Future. Moth brings a soft, organic feel with its curved crystal placement, while Future leans geometric and clean. Both are available across all our standard leather colors, and yes, they look just as good on a Chihuahua as they do on a Great Dane.  Okay, maybe not the Chihuahua.

The Tidal Launch (Insiders Only)

Our Insiders' Club got first access to Tidal—a limited edition collar inspired by coastal movement and those shifting patterns you see when water meets shore. Brilliant red leather, colour shifting blue crystals arranged in a pattern that evokes the movement of the ocean. It was exactly the kind of design that makes you stop scrolling.

We released it exclusively to our Insiders before opening it up to everyone else, and honestly? It's one of the perks of being in the club. Early access, first dibs, all of that. If you're not already a member, you're missing out on these kinds of releases.

Sweetheart: Gone in 48 Hours

Then came Sweetheart—our first general limited edition launch of the year. We knew it would move fast. We didn't expect it to sell out in 48 hours.

Pink leather isn't something we work with often, but when we do, we make sure it's the right shade: something rich and sophisticated. Paired with Dark Rose and clear crystals, Sweetheart hit that sweet spot between elegant and playful.

If you missed it, you missed it. That's the thing with limited editions—they're here, then they're not. No restocks, no do-overs.

But here's the good news: we're already planning February's releases.

What's Coming in February

We've got two limited edition collars lined up for next month.

The first is a new fashion colour leather. We're not spilling details yet, but let's just say it's a shade we haven't worked with before, and it's going to look incredible with the right crystal pairing.

The second? A Mardi Gras release. Think bold, celebratory, and unapologetically festive. If you've been waiting for something with a little more flash, this one's for you.

Both will be limited runs. Both will move fast. If Sweetheart's 48-hour sellout taught us anything, it's that you don't want to sleep on these launches.

The Rhythm of the Workshop

January is always a strange month. The holiday rush is over, but the orders keep coming—custom builds, ready-to-wear pieces, leashes to match collars that went out in December. It's a different kind of busy.

We've been cutting leather, setting crystals, adjusting buckles, and making sure every collar that leaves here is something we'd be proud to put on our own dogs. That's the standard, and it doesn't change whether it's the first week of January or the last week of December.

The team's been solid. Everyone cares about the work. It's not just about making collars—it's about making them right.

A Quick Word on the Cold

You'd think -39°C would slow things down, but it doesn't. The workshop's heated, the coffee's strong, and the work keeps us moving.

There's something grounding about working through a cold snap. You're not thinking about the temperature outside when you're focused on getting a crystal placement just right or making sure a buckle sits flush. The work demands attention, and that's exactly where our attention goes.

Looking Ahead

January set the tone for the year. New widths, new designs, sold-out launches, and a reminder that when we release something limited, we mean it.
